Baby Play Gyms & Playmats: Yookidoo Discover Playmat

Tummy time play – for early ages place your baby on the mat while lying on his tummy, facing the 3 kaleidoscopes (activity area). Begin this at an early age, even for a very short time before rolling him over to on his back or side. The sooner you start this, the more accepting he will be to maintain the tummy time position when growing.

Solo and social play – the balls are perfect for solo or social (one on one) play time with parent. Sit in front of your baby on the mat and roll a ball towards him. As he punches each ball that comes his way, his reaching and aiming skills will develop. This will also improve his ability to transfer objects back and forth between hands.
Object permanence – Demonstrate how to drop a ball through the pop up house, as it disappears and then magically reappears – developing the concept of object permanence with your child. Eventually your baby will master the coordination to do this by himself. Remember to explain to your baby what you are doing.

Tactile and visual stimulation and development of motor skills – at around 3 months old, as your baby is capable of reaching out towards object during tummy time, get down on the floor with him and show the different activities and sounds. Encourage him to explore every activity and learn through the experience. Change your baby’s position on the mat from time to time and watch how a whole new experience awaits him as he discovers new characters, shapes, colors and textures.
